Chessalto gives you a personal chess training path. Start with placement, learn one tactical idea, then practice it in real positions. Your queue includes reviews of patterns you have already learned.
Start at your level
You should already know how the pieces move, what check means and how a game ends. A short placement helps choose a starting point for your training. You do not need an official rating.
Your Alto Score tracks your training in Chessalto. It is not a FIDE, Chess.com or Lichess rating.
Learn an idea, then find it on the board
The guided path starts with undefended pieces and simple checkmates before moving into forks, pins and other tactics. Each lesson explains one idea and gives you a position in which to play it.
Practice then asks you to recognize that idea in different positions. The goal is to notice the pattern when the pieces no longer look exactly like the lesson.
Return to patterns across separate sessions
Spaced repetition spreads practice over time. Instead of completing a topic once and leaving it behind, you return to it in later sessions. Chessalto uses your training results to schedule those reviews.
A short daily session is a practical place to start. Work through the queue, pay attention to mistakes and return for the next review. Daily training and spaced reviews have no free-plan cap.
Practice openings and review your games
Opening courses add explanations and practice for your repertoire. Game review lets you import a PGN and examine your own decisions with Stockfish analysis.
Daily training, the guided path, manual PGN review and three opening courses are free. Premium adds the full opening catalog and automatic Chess.com and Lichess game imports. The pricing page lists the current plans.
